This course introduces the foundations of database systems, focusing on data modeling, query organization, query processing, and transactions. It provides an understanding of the issues in managing database systems as an essential organizational resource. It covers the components of enterprise data architecture, data storage configurations, and information retrieval methods. It proceeds from the relational model to the multidimensional model, object-relational techniques, and web accessed data.
